IrBEA membership benefits include: 

Policy Development – The sheer quantity of new renewable energy policy means it can be almost impossible to keep on top of it all. IrBEA policy specialists, who are often national and EU leaders in their field, provide information to members on a daily basis to save them time and money. IrBEA’s various technology sector groups shape our work. In 2018/19 IrBEA consulted on the final phase of the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH) submission and lobbied effectively to see a commitment from DCCAE to launch the scheme for mid-2019. We also consulted on the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS), the Enduring Connection Policy (ECP) by the CRU and the Biofuels Obligation Scheme (BOS) by the DCCAE.

The Wood Fuel Quality Assurance Scheme – established in 2009, sets quality standards in wood supply and promotes market confidence in wood fuels in Ireland. Administered by IrBEA and supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the scheme assists consumers to purchase quality wood fuels sustainably produced in compliance with EU Timber Regulations and EN 17225 which meet the supplier’s product specifications. Using a WFQA wood fuel ensures matching the correct grade of wood fuel to the wood burning appliance / biomass boiler thus providing optimal efficiency and heating. Given that WFQA assured timber and biomass will be included in the pending National Clear Air Strategy and the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat, now is the time to register and join the WFQA. www.wfqa.org

Communication – Every fortnight, IrBEA emails a member-only newsletter, containing must know information, key diary dates, a table detailing the status of the various consultations we will or will not be responding to. Members receive a company listing on our website www.irbea.org and in our on-line Directory with the option of uploading your logo. Members can also use the IrBEA logo on company and promotional material which will also be complemented by promotion of your activities, services and products via our communication channels.

Events – A number of events are organised by the IrBEA throughout the year, including the National Bioenergy Conference – Bioenergy Future Ireland which has just taken place this February. We also have sector specific industry events and seminars highlighting key areas of interest such as AD, biomass installations tours, planning and grid, sustainability and project finance.

Training – We also run a programme of tailored training courses. In October 2018 IrBEA received a grant  offer from Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) to run  a Biomass Installers and Designers Course with a long term objective of developing a Biomass Practitioners Register. The first course ran in February 2019, the 2 day course was presented by David Palmer. David is a specialist with extensive expertise and experience in the design and installation of biomass boiler systems.
