The latest UN report on climate change spells out how bioenergy is essential for climate action in transport, being as important as electromobility. The transport sector is Ireland’s largest source of energy related carbon emissions, it is growing and Ireland has yet to make real progress in tackling it. Biofuels through increased substitution in both diesel and petrol can reduce emissions and address climate action in the current transport fleet. Biofuels offer an immediate cost effective option to emissions reduction in the transport fleet. IrBEA as the representative body for the sector continues to lobby for increase inclusion rates of biofuels in the transport fleet fuel mixes.
