IrBEA started a two year programme to promote smaller scale AD in 2014 along with 9 other European partners the programme is called Biogas3 and it task is to examine the potential for smaller scale anaerobic digestion and promote it’s use in the agri-food market and therefore promote energy self-sufficiency. The programme focused on three key areas.
- Identify technology available throughout the EU for smaller scale concepts (generally under 125kw electrical equivalent. Also identify uses for the gas such as process heating, cooling, electricity.
- Developing software tools to determine the economic and technical potential of various waste streams
- Workshops, training sessions, field trips and web based seminars (webinars) to bring interested parties together.
